Tutorial on Finding Your Indiana Unclaimed Property
The state of Indiana will help you find your money through IndianaUnclaimed.com. Once on the site you find a box with information fields to be entered. Enter your first and last name or your business name if you are claiming money owed to your business. You can click on "advanced search" to enter more information to help narrow your search.
Once you search the database for Indiana unclaimed property a list will be returned with the same name that you entered. Find your claim by looking for an address you may have lived at in the past or currently. It also displays the company or organization that reported the claim. Clicking on the property ID number in the far left column will give you more information about the claim.
Once you find the reported money or property that you would like to formally claim click the check box to the far right. You may also claim more than one if you believe you are owed others reported claims.
If you are satisfied you've found all the money due you click "continue" at the bottom. The information of the accounts will again be displayed. If satisfied, "continue" again.
You are then required to declare your relationship to the owner of the claim. If it is you then choose "self." If it is someone else that you are legally able to claim for then specify. You'll see the other options from the drop-down box. To advance hit "continue."
Enter the required information in the field boxes. The required field are marked with red. They ask for the last four digits of your SS#. It's not required but will help expedite the process. A valid email address is also required.
You'll see all the information that you entered and will be required to verify it. If you want to change something click "Edit" at the bottom. If you're satisfied click "claim."
You may then print your form if you have access to a printer and if you have access to a printer you'll need Adobe Reader which is a free program that you can download and install on your computer. Click here to download it. If you don't have access to a printer but will later you can save the information to print later. Click the middle option before continuing. If you want to have the form mailed to you then choose the third option. You'll receive the claim form and instruction sheet within 7-10 business days.
