Tutorial on Finding Your Louisiana Unclaimed Property
Once on the page you'll see some information field boxes that need to be filled. You can enter any combination of boxes to help narrow your search. You then must type the characters that are displayed in the box which helps to prevent spam.
If nothing is returned try entering less information in the field boxes in case your property is listed under different information.
A list of names and addresses should be returned which you are able to review. Each listing shows approximately how much money can be claimed. Find your name followed by an address you may have lived at. Check the box to the left of it. You may select multiple claims if you believe they are yours. Once satisfied you have all your claims, click "Claim Properties" at the bottom of the page.
You'll then see your name and the property number that you claimed. There are some fields that you are required to fill out which include full name, physical address, email address, SS# or Tax ID, phone number, and relationship to the rightful owner of the property if it is not yourself. If it is yourself just choose "I am the owner" from the drop down box.
The next step depends on whether you have a printer available to print of the form with the information that you just entered. If you do have printer you also need Adobe Reader which is a program you can download for free and install to view the document. Download Adobe Reader here. If you don't have a printer available you can request to have the form mailed to the address that you entered.
Adobe Reader will then open the form which you can print off. There are other documents that must be included to claim your money. These are a copy of your current driver's licence or government issued ID, a copy of your Social Security card, and any document that helps prove that you lived at the address matching the unclaimed property.
