Clicking here will take you to the Comptroller of Maryland's search page. Start by entering your or the person's name you are looking for in to the information field boxes. Both first and last names are required. Then click "Search" to advance.
A list of matching results will then be returned. If you find your name or the name you are looking for you will then be able to fill out a claim form. To be able to view and fill out the form and print it you will need Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader is a free program that you download here and install on your computer. When you then click this link here for the claim form you can view it.
There are then several information fields that must be filled out to complete the claim form. Among them is your name, address, SS#, and relationship to the owner of the property if it isn't you and their SS#.
Below that you will see a checklist of items that you have to be sure to include with your form when you mail it to the claim department. These are a copy of your government issued ID, a copy of your Social Security card, documents like bank documents, cancelled checks or the like that has your name and information on it, and proof of affiliation with the person you are claiming for if it isn't you. If you have other papers that help prove ownership that isn't listed in the checklist then check "other" and type in the box provided what they are.
You then print off the document and sign it. If you don't have access to a printer then save the document and take it to a public printer like at a public library to print it off.
Make sure the document is sign and that you include all other documents to help prove ownership of the claim and mail them to:
