Tutorial on Finding Your West Virginia Unclaimed Property
Click here to go to the page where you will begin your search. It's a rather plain looking page that is called eClaims but it is a certified West Virginia web page dedicated to helping you find your money.
Enter your last and/or first name. The first name is suggested to help narrow your search. A list of names will be returned along with the city for each listing.
Select a property and claim it by clicking the button on the bottom of the page. You'll then be required to create a username and password. At the bottom of the page you'll see a link call "Create New Account."
Enter the required information in the boxes and click "Create Account" at the bottom. The next page will have you login with the credentials you just created.
Once you have a username and password you can make the claim. You will be required to fill out some information but it had all been entered before so all you have to do is select it from a drop down box.
Clicking "Submit Claim" will then submit the claim. You can later come back and check the status of your claim by loggin in to your account so make sure you remember your username and password for the future.
Be sure to include documents that help prove you are the owner of the property such as a copy of your state issued id, a copy of your social security card, and a copy of a bank statement or a bill with your current address on it to show you reside at the address you are requesting to have the claim sent to.
